According to the webpage by Avetics(n.d), the DJI Matrice 300 RTK, also known as M300 RTK, is one of the newest models of commercialised drones in the market with designs that are inspired by avionics. The article also mentioned that the M300 RTK is looked at for its “high performance and unrivalled reliability” (Avetics, n.d). The drone also contains many newly developed features such as a 15km max transmission system, smart inspection, smart pinpoint and more. With all these new features, we can look forward to its 15km transmission range that uses AES-256 encryption for more secure transmission. It also supports 3-channelled video and allows for real-time switching between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. The drone also possesses live mission recording, AI spot check, waypoint 2.0, pinpoint, smart track and location-sharing features (Avetics, n.d). According to the same webpage by Avetics(n.d), the M300 RTK is considered one of the most versatile drones in the market because it can support multiple payload configurations and can allow for a maximum of 3 payloads to be mounted on it with a maximum weight of 2.7 kg combined. 

 

The M300 RTK is believed to be the new standard for the commercialised drone industry. By combining computer intelligence with great drone architecture, the M300 RTk has proven itself to be one of the highest-performance drones with unrivalled reliability (Avetics, n.d). Some of the major factors that allowed the M300 RTK to be one of the best are its capacity for different payload configurations and its capacity to carry different types of payloads that serve different purposes.

 

According to a blog by Heliguy (July, 2022), the M300 RTK is unconventionally more versatile as compared to the M30 drone because of its capacity for different payload configurations. Although we may consider the M30 drone to be versatile, the M300 RTK drone puts it to shame with its ability to integrate a huge variety of payloads with different configurations. In comparison to the M30’s fixed camera setup, the “multiple payload configurations” mentioned in the Avetics webpage (n.d) state that the M300 RTK can have different configurations which can carry a maximum of three payloads at once. Thus, the M300 RTK is still more versatile than the M30 (Heliguy, July 2022).

 

The M300 RTK has the capacity to hold different types of payloads that have allowed it to perform many different functions such as giving information from above, scouting with night vision and more. Also, payloads that are recommended to be used by the M300 RTK are the Zenmuse H20N, Zenmuse H20T, Zenmuse P1 and Zenmuse L1.

 

According to the Zenmuse H20 series webpage (n.d) under DJI, the Zenmuse H20N and H20T are multi-sensor payloads that provide extraordinary aerial imaging capabilities which can capture any object up to a maximum of 1.2 km. The H20N is a payload made for operating at night due to its enhanced night vision while the H20T is made for more effective daytime solutions due to its higher-quality visual sensors. Since different payloads of the H20 series are built for different environments, the H20N is constructed to be more suitable for night missions and the H20T is built to be more suitable for daytime operations (Heliguy, May 2022).

 

According to the Zenmuse P1(n.d) and Zenmuse L1(n.d) webpages under DJI, the Zenmuse P1 and L1 are best used for aerial surveying.  The Zenmuse P1 is a high-resolution camera and Zenmuse L1 is a Laser scanner, which shows that both payloads can be used for a variety of different cases. The Zenmuse P1 is attached with a state-of-the-art camera that comes with interchangeable lenses that have different focal lengths whereas the Zenmuse L1 has a LiDAR module that can scan far distances with much accuracy. Although both the Zenmuse P1 and L1 are used for different functions, We can establish that they both play different roles in making the DJI Matrice 300 RTK superior to most modern drone platforms when it comes to aerial surveying technologies (Kerstan et al., 2022).

 

Although the M300 RTK comes with many benefits, it is the most expensive drone under the DJI logo as it has more features and accessories compared to other drone platforms in the market. However, due to its more advanced specifications and versatility to be used in many different scenarios, the M300 RTK may be the most value for money because it can perform multiple missions that other drone platforms cannot and can carry the most weight without affecting its flight time too much. (Heliguy, July 2022). Hence, I feel that it is still one of the best drones on the market despite its high price point. 

 

In conclusion, I believe that the DJI Matrice 300 RTK is considered a “new standard” for drones in the market. Therefore, the DJI Matrice 300 RTK has proven itself to be one of the most advanced drones to be sold in the market (Avetics, n.d).
